Manchester United are Targeting 16 year old Danish striker Chido Obi Martin from

Arsenal’s U18’s. Obi Martin banged in 32 goals in 20 games for Arsenal’s U18’s and

looked like he was set to become Arsenal’s next breakout academy star. Now with his

contact coming to an end he made it clear to Arsenal that he will not return to the club.

Now with one of the most exciting prospects in the world on the market, all the top

clubs pounced. Dortmund, Bayern, Liverpool, Milan, Juventus, but Man United stuck out.

He visited Carrington a few days ago and now looks like United is the only place for him.

But why does he want United and why do United want him?

Why do United want him?

Manchester United have been very active in the transfer window already with the

signing of Yoro and more importantly the signing of Zirkzee. They also have Ethan

Wheatly, who came through their academy and has played a few games for them. So

why do Man United want to sign another striker? Well the answer is very simple. When a

player of his quality comes along you can’t pass it up. Obi Martin broke the U18 scoring

record at just 16 years old. He has the potential to be one a world class striker and you

can never pass that up. Now why does he want to come to United? As I just mentioned,

Man United have plenty of strikers, so why would he come here? Well a big part of this

was when he came to Carrington he was greeted by Ruud Van Nistelroy, Rasmus

Hojlund, and Christen Eriksen. Ruud Van Nistelroy was his idol growing up and that

helped convince him a lot. Also two of the best players from his home country were

there to great him was huge. He was also a childhood Manchester United and it was

always his dream to play for Man United.

When and how could we see him in the first team?

Now the question that all Man United fans want to hear. How is he going to fit into the

team and when is he going to break through into the first team. Let’s start off with when

he will break through into the first team. Obi Martin is 16 years old and will turn 17 in

late November so he is getting to that age. I think that mid to end of the season is when

he will get a few games off the bench. Probably in cup games or in weaker Prem games.

For sure though he will get game time as that was part of the discussion at Carrington a

few days ago. Now how will he fit into the team? Well he is a pure striker so you cant

really play him on the wing or as a 10. So I think his role this season will be as Man

United 3rd choice striker. Now yes Rashford can play at striker and I think that he will go

there in emergencies, but he with be their 3rd choice pure striker. We have heard

rumors that Ten Hag is open to playing 2 strikers some games. So that opens up a spot

for Obi Martin to come off the bench.
